- How much it will cost to stay at the Iori machiya?
- The daily and weekly rent for our machiya vary depending on the house. The rent is valid from 4:00 pm on the day you check in to 11:00 am on the day you check out.
- Do we need to pay security money?
- No. There is no need to pay security money.
- Are customers charged separately for the cleaning?
- Cleaning service is included in the rent. The Weekly Machiya are historically precious assets. Therefore, in order to maintain their beauty and to preserve the furniture and wood, we ask customers to leave the cleaning to Iori staff.
- How can I make a reservation to stay at Iori's machiya?
- Please refer to How To Reserve Machiya.
- What is the procedure for payment and cancellation?

Payment must be made in advance in order to confirm your reservation. Please transfer your payment to the following Iori account within five days after you receive the pre-confirmation letter:

- Do we need to report if the number of participants
changes?
- Yes. The accommodation fee won't change if the number remains within the capacity of the house. If the number exceeds the capacity, we can make further arrangements for you.
- Can teenagers stay in the machiya by themselves?

As a general rule we do not accept groups of only teenagers. We request adults or teachers chaperone the group. This also applies to groups from educational institutions.
- I have no reservation. Can I still stay at Weekly Machiya?
- As a general rule, we request all guests make reservations in advance.
- Can I view the machiya before I make my reservation?

Yes, but we would appreciate if you could inform us in advance. A staff member would be happy to give you a short tour of the machiya. Tours are subject to scheduling availability.
- How do we check-in?
- Although it depends on the art programs we are holding at the time, guests may use the machiya after 16:00. All the guests are asked to check in at the main office in Sujiya-cho, where you may also inquire about restaurants and sightseeing spots, before goingto the machiya they have reserved. A staff member will guide guests to the machiya from the main office. After your arrival, our staff will provide a brief tour of the house and explain the facilities. You will receive the key after the tour and explanation.
- How do we check-out?

There are two ways to checkout. You can come to the mainoffice at Sujiya-cho or we can send a staff member to the machiya you are staying in.
- Can we cook? Where can we eat?
- Our machiya have kitchens but we recommend guests to eat out for purposes of preserving the machiya. There are many fine restaurants within walking distance of each house. Our staff would be happy to provide information or make reservations for you. There are many cafes and restaurants open in the morning. Or some guests may prefer to buy bread and coffee and enjoy breakfast at home in their machiya. For more information, see "Breakfast" in Machiya Life.
- Are there convenience stores or any shops near
the machiya?
- All the machiya we manage are located in the middle of downtown, and there are convenience stores and shops at almost every corner. Please feel free to use the refrigerators in the machiya. After check-out, our staff will dispose of the leftovers for you.
- Can I have my luggage delivered to Iori from the airport?

Yes. Please ask the delivery company to send your luggage to our main office at Sujiya-cho. We will store them until your arrival. We would appreciate if guests would inform us by email or phone in advance about the date and time the luggage will arrive.

- What kind of amenities do the machiya have?
- The machiya are completely furnished, including electronics such as refrigerators, televisions, and hair dryers. All the necessary bedding is prepared for you. We provide only environmentally friendly towels and bath products.
- Do the machiya have bathtubs?

All the machiya have Japanese-style bathtubs. Some machiya feature wooden ofuro baths, and Sujiya-cho's bath is modelled after stone ryokan baths. We also recommend guests try the public baths to experience everyday life in Kyoto. Please ask our staff for information about the public baths near your machiya.
- Do we sleep in a bed or a futon?

Because machiya are traditional Japanese homes, most guests use futon. Only Sujiya-cho has beds. We use high-quality futons and quilts filled with hand-picked Polish feathers to ensure your comfort.
- Can we bring our pet to the machiya?
- Pets are not allowed at the machiya.
- Can we use Machiya for parties?
- We request guests do not to use the machiya for parties.
Most of Kyoto's houses share walls with their neighbors. At night,Kyoto is
rather quiet, and any noise that you make can easily be heard next door.
If neighbors complain about the noise, we hold the right to suspend your
stay. In that case, we cannot give refunds.
